About the Role:
We’re seeking a seasonal assistant to join our nursery team from early February through November. In this role, you’ll be involved in all aspects of nursery operations from seed collection and cleaning, to propagation, potting, irrigation, and loading of plants.
Your Responsibilities Will Include:
- Plant care: Watering, weeding, feeding, pruning, staking, and general maintenance of various plants.
- Propagation: Assisting with seed collection and cleaning, and sowing.
- Potting and transplanting: Repotting plants as needed.
- Greenhouse and nursery upkeep: Maintaining cleanliness, organization, and proper environmental conditions within the nursery.
- Pulling orders and loading trucks.
- Other tasks: As assigned, inventory management, and construction projects.
We’re Looking For Someone Who:
- Enjoys the outdoors and working with plants.
- Is physically fit and can work in all weather conditions.
- Has a strong work ethic and is self-motivated.
- Able to work with a diverse workforce including Amish.
- Is a team player and works collaboratively with others.
- Is eager to learn new skills and expand their knowledge of native plants.
- Can lift 30 lbs repetitively – occasionally up to 50 lbs.
- Willing to work occasional weekends.
- Can drive company vehicles.
- Has a positive attitude.
Bonus Points If You Have:
- Experience in horticulture, the nursery industry, or related fields.
- Knowledge of native plants in your region.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
